The devastating floods that swept across Upper Assam left behind far more than submerged villages and damaged homes. Thousands of families lost crops, livestock, small businesses, household belongings, school materials and the means to earn a living. While the floodwaters have begun to recede, the task of rebuilding has only just started.
Emergency relief helps families survive the first days after a disaster. Recovery takes months—and often much longer.
The Rongjeng Welfare Foundation (RWF) has launched this campaign to help flood-affected families rebuild their lives. Our focus goes beyond distributing relief. We want to help families restore their livelihoods, return children to school, and support communities as they recover from one of the worst floods in recent years.
We are working with local volunteers, community organisations and humanitarian partners to identify and register affected families through the Assam Flood Mapping Platform. Every household is assessed to understand its losses and immediate needs so that support reaches those who need it most.
Your donation can help provide
- Livelihood recovery for farming and fishing families
- Seeds, farming tools and agricultural inputs
- Support for small businesses to restart their work
- School supplies and educational materials for children
- Essential household items for families who lost everything
- Mobility aids and other assistive devices for persons with disabilities
- Other recovery assistance based on each family's needs
Priority will be given to the most vulnerable households, including:
- Women-headed families
- Children and older persons
- Persons with disabilities
- Small and marginal farmers
- Daily wage earners
- Families that have lost their primary source of income
How we work
- Identify – Register affected families through field surveys and community outreach.
- Assess – Document losses, needs and recovery priorities.
- Support – Provide assistance based on verified needs, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
- Follow up – Continue working with communities as they rebuild.
Transparency
We believe every donation should be accountable.
- Funds will be used exclusively for flood recovery and rehabilitation.
- Families supported through the campaign will be documented and verified.
- Regular updates will be published on the progress of the campaign and the communities assisted.
Natural disasters do not end when the water recedes. For thousands of families across Upper Assam, the hardest part begins afterward—repairing homes, restoring livelihoods, sending children back to school and rebuilding a future.
With your support, that recovery can begin.
